FP7 - The 7th European Framework Program for Research & Development (R&D)

What is FP7?

The Framework Programme (FP) is the European Union's main instrument for funding R&D. FP7 will run for seven years from 1 January 2007, with a budget of around 54,000 M €.

FP7 Basic Structure

The proposed Seventh Framework Programme will be organised in
four (4) programmes:

- "Cooperation",

- "Ideas",

- "People" and

- "Capacities":

Environmental Technologies (is a sub-topic of “Co-operation”)

Environmental technologies for the sustainable management and conservation of the natural and man-made environment;

Research will target in particular:

    • technologies preventing or reducing environmental risks, mitigating hazards and disasters, mitigating climate change and the loss of biodiversity;
    • technologies promoting sustainable production and consumption;
    • technologies for managing resources or treating pollution more efficiently, in relation to water, soil, air, sea and other natural resources, or waste;
    • technologies for the environmentally sound and sustainable management of the human environment including:

The built environment, urban areas, landscape, as well as for the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. (*)
