Architects’ Council of Europe

INTRODUCTION
Its holiday time and its quiet in Brussels, so this issue is shorter than
usual – ACE Info will be back to its full size in September:
Welcome to the eight issue in 2004 of ACE Info, the monthly update from
the Architects' Council of Europe that will give you, at a glance, information
on current issues, highlighting emerging areas of activity and informing
you of matters of interest in the field of architectural policy.
This issue is also available in French.
CORE ISSUES
COMMISSION PROPOSES TO CO-FINANCE REGENERATION OF
URBAN AREAS
On the 14th July last, the European
Commission adopted the proposals for the new Structural Funds regulations
for the period 2007-2013. These regulations take urban areas into consideration
by stating that urban renewal, including measures for social inclusion,
could be co-financed. Specifically the regulations state that the European
Regional Development Fund (ERDF) may be used to support “Integrated strategies
to tackle high concentrations of economic, environmental and social problems
affecting urban agglomerations”. Further detailed information can be found
by browsing the web at: http://europa.eu.int/comm/regional_policy/debate/forum_en.htm
